Me
I’m writer and journalist at heart, having worked as an editor in the magazine industry for more than a decade. Over that time, I’ve developed a deep passion for writing and editing ambitious, compelling stories. I also just love to explore the world and seek out its most interesting characters. A sampling of these adventures and personalities include: rafting down a remote river in Peru for a profile of a legendary whitewater guide, chasing the Great American Eclipse across the U.S. with my yellow Labrador, hanging out with Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard on a South Dakota bison ranch, and road-tripping through the Italian countryside. I’ve written about fishing with celebrity chef Tom Colicchio, hanging with Olympic gold medalist Shaun White, and standing in mission control as Red Bull athlete Felix Baumgartner plummeted from the stratosphere. There was also that one time I fought in a professional Mixed Martial Arts bout in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Currently, I’m a freelance writer and editor living and working in Austin, Texas, with two dogs, two cats, and my wife, Keren. I write for dozens of magazines and newspapers—from GQ and The Guardian to Travel & Leisure, AARP, Garden & Gun, Texas Monthly, Scientific American, and more. I also work on stories and scripts for various studios and brands. Prior to this, I was the features editor at Men’s Journal and a longtime editor at Outside magazine, an era during which we won a National Magazine Award for General Excellence. Reach out to me if you have questions about my work, want to share a story lead, or have a project that needs a keen eye for storytelling.
